PTSD and Law Enforcement and the Critical Need for Wellness Training

 

  • The attendee will explore the definition of PTSD within the Law Enforcement community, its causative factor and its affects if not treated by caring and knowledgeable professionals.
  • The attendee will discover the available resources and tools by being provided examples of positive coping skills with emphasis on the critical need for a positive support system.
  • The attendee will understand that PTSD is not an isolated situation for certain law enforcement personnel, PTSD can and does impact law enforcement personnel on all levels.

 

Class Description:
The attendee explores: the definition of PTSD within the Law Enforcement Community, its causative factors and its affects if not treated by caring and knowledgeable professionals. The attendee will then discover the available resources and tools by being provided examples of positive coping skills with emphasis on the critical need for a positive support system.

Course Level of Learning Outcomes:
The attendee will:

A. Understand PTSD is not an isolated situation for certain law enforcement
personnel. PTSD can and does impact law enforcement personnel on all levels.

B. Obtaining caring and knowledgeable assistance from well trained professionals who understand the important role Law Enforcement has in the United States culture is critical in helping with the recovering of those suffering from PTSD.

C. Be able to understand it is vitally important, to have and maintain a strong and healthy support system for law enforcement personnel and their loved ones to cope with the growing daily stressors of their honored profession.

D. Be able to distinguish the difference between work fatigue and PTSD which could cause a moral injury, leading to possible unwanted consequences.

E. Learning the importance of sound spiritual options, renews and refreshes the law enforcement personnel community to seek and embrace the power of hope.
